Overview

The Dashboard is the first place to review an organisation. It brings together headline portfolio values, recent activity, allocation, currency exposure, planning goals, investment updates, and watched securities. Dashboard figures use the familiar symbol for your reporting currency without a country prefix. For example, an Australian-dollar reporting amount is shown as $100. Use it for daily review, month-end checks, and quick preparation before investment meetings.

Reading chart colours

Charts use distinct colours to help you follow each line, bar or segment. Match the colour to the label in the legend, and hover over a point or segment to see its value. The same chart series keeps its colour when you switch between light and dark appearance. Category colours you have chosen are retained. Grey is used for unavailable or inactive data. In gain-and-loss mini charts, green shows a positive movement and rose shows a negative movement. A negative return does not indicate a reconciliation break. Your custom dashboard charts remain available when you create or remove a saved view, or reset the standard view. Hover over chart segments or points to inspect their values.

Before you start

Make sure the organisation has investments, transactions, and any categories or tags you want to review. If the dashboard looks incomplete, check whether the date range or filters are narrowing the view. If setup found investments without enough information for safe reporting, the Dashboard shows a Missing information notice in Classic, Bold, and Compact views. The notice lists the number of affected draft investments and links to Investment Management. Drafts are not included in portfolio values, performance, allocation, or reports.

Basic and advanced use

  • Basic use: review headline value, top holdings, recent activity, allocation, and currency exposure.
  • Advanced use: filter by entity, category, subcategory, listed status, or tags, then personalise the dashboard for a meeting or recurring review.
  • Compact use: choose the Compact view when you want more figures, rows, and summaries on screen at once.

Choose a view

Use the view picker at the top of the Dashboard to switch between Classic, Bold and Compact. The view you pick is highlighted straight away. Switching between Bold and Compact is instant. Switching to or from Classic loads different figures, so the dashboard dims until they are ready. The Dashboard remembers the last view you picked and opens in it next time. Opening a link someone shared with you shows the view in that link without changing your own choice.

View amounts in another currency

Use View in in the Dashboard filter row to choose a display currency, such as USD for an Australian-dollar portfolio. The Currency filter beside it selects which investments to include; View in changes the currency used to show their values. Clear all resets the investment filters and keeps your display currency. In the Jack view, View in appears above the dashboard content. Portfolio values, holdings, gains, income, allocation amounts, recent transactions and bank balances are shown in the selected currency. The selection also applies when you filter the dashboard or switch views. It stays in the page link, so refreshing or sharing that link keeps the selected currency. Choose your organisation’s reporting currency to return to the usual view. The note below the header shows the exchange rate and its date in DD/MM/YYYY format. All displayed amounts use that single rate, taken from the latest available business day on or before the end of your review period. Future periods use the latest available rate up to today. Changing the review period may change the rate. This is a currency conversion for viewing: percentage returns and the effect of currency movements remain based on your organisation’s reporting currency. It does not recalculate investment performance as if you had invested in the selected currency. Currency exposure still groups investments by their original currency. Your organisation’s settings, recorded transactions and reports are unchanged. Watched security prices, saved custom widgets and goal measurements retain their own currencies or units. If an exchange rate is unavailable, a message explains that the dashboard is showing your organisation’s reporting currency instead.

Choose the review period

Use the date range controls at the top of the Dashboard to set the period you want to review. When you first open the Dashboard without a saved or shared date range, it starts at Year to date so the view covers the current calendar year up to today. Choose a quick range to apply it immediately, or choose Custom range and select Apply. A loading indicator appears in the date control and the dashboard dims while the figures update. Wait for it to return to full strength before reviewing the new period. The 3M, YTD and 1Y buttons on the Bold view work the same way: the period you choose is highlighted straight away. Your scroll position is kept when you change dates. Goals, watched securities, news and notes are independent of the review period and remain available when you change dates. Check the period before relying on:
  • Portfolio movement.
  • Recent transactions.
  • Value comparison charts.
  • Allocation and exposure views.
  • Report or meeting commentary.
If the start date is later than the end date, EveryWealth presents the range in the correct order. If today’s daily value has not finished syncing, the headline portfolio value and value chart carry each holding’s latest confirmed value forward to today. This keeps the Dashboard and mobile overview steady while the current day’s values are being updated. On the mobile app, the Dashboard may reopen with recently viewed information while the latest figures refresh. This helps repeat visits load faster, especially when switching back to the app during the same review session.

Filter the dashboard

Filters help you focus on a specific part of the organisation. You can filter by:
  • Entity.
  • Currency.
  • Category.
  • Subcategory.
  • Listed or unlisted investments.
  • Tags.
Use filters when you need a view for one trust, one mandate, one investment currency, one asset class, or one reporting treatment. In Status, choose Listed or Unlisted to focus on those investments. Select Exclude cash to leave cash accounts and holdings categorised as cash out of portfolio totals, performance, allocation and recent transactions. You can combine this with other filters. Select it again to include cash, or choose Clear all to reset all filters. While filters are being applied, the EveryWealth logo appears over the dashboard, with its green dots pulsing in sequence around the centre. The logo itself stays still. The previous figures stay visible but dimmed until the updated results are ready. You can keep adjusting or clear your filters while the dashboard updates. This works in Classic, Bold, and Compact views. The currency filter uses each investment’s latest recorded currency on or before the end of the selected period. This means a holding with a carried-forward value remains available even when it has no new daily value inside the period, and an older currency record does not override its latest one. If an investment is shared between entities using ownership weights, an entity filter shows only that entity’s percentage share of value, gains and losses, income, fees, and recent activity. The full organisation view still shows the investment once at its full value.

Key dashboard areas

Key metrics

Review market value, cost, unrealised results, realised gains or losses, realised FX, and other headline figures. Compact displays market value with closely spaced thousands separators for easier reading. Beside market value, Bold and Compact show the time-weighted return (TWR) for the selected period, which ignores money added or withdrawn. TWR shows a dash until the period has complete value history. The first metric compares market value with cost basis so you can quickly see value against invested cost. Beneath market value, net invested shows the money added less money withdrawn during the period, so growth from new capital is not mistaken for performance. Cost basis shows the unrealised gain since purchase, which is market value less cost basis. The holdings count covers every current holding, even when the top holdings list shows only the largest.

Period ROI

Review return on invested capital at the top of the dashboard for the selected period. Loan repayments and capital repayments are shown as capital adjustments, not performance losses. Losses are shown in brackets, for example ($300). Top contributors lists the holdings that gained or lost the most; if none gained or lost value, the card says so.When you change the filters, the card shows grey placeholders until the new figures are ready, so you never see figures from the previous selection. If the period has no investments, the card says there are no returns for this period yet and links to Investment returns. If the figures can’t be loaded, the card says so and offers a Try again button; contact us if it keeps happening.

Top holdings

See the largest positions and their current contribution to the portfolio.

Recent transactions

Check the latest buys, sells, income, fees, and other activity.

Recent news

Review new investment updates and items that may need action.

Recent planning threads

See the latest Planning Workspace discussions, decisions, and follow-ups linked to investments, entities, custodians, documents, or wider planning topics.

Category allocation

See how market value is split across categories and subcategories. Switch to the stacked pie view when you want categories in the centre and subcategories around the outside.

Currency exposure

Review the original investment currencies behind the portfolio.

Bank balances

If Xero bank accounts are syncing, review current cash balances alongside the rest of the dashboard.

Capital commitments

Review the total capital that may still be called, how much is scheduled, commitments without dates, and the next upcoming calls. Target-total commitments deduct each linked investment’s latest recorded value.

Allocation after commitments

Compare today’s category allocation with the projected mix after all remaining capital commitments are funded. Commitments follow the category of their linked investment.

Benchmarks

Compare portfolio value growth with saved targets such as S&P 500, a listed stock, CPI plus a margin, or a fixed annual return.
In the mobile app, Top holdings includes a compact trend line beside each holding so you can quickly compare recent movement without opening the full holding detail. In the mobile app, tap a Recent transactions row to open that transaction’s detail view, including linked source documents where available. The mobile key metrics cards use a consistent size, so Cost basis, Unrealised, Capital introduced, and Market movement are easy to scan together.

Remove transactions from recent activity

If you have the Bulk delete transactions permission, you can tidy up the recent activity list directly from the Bold view.
1

Start selecting

In the Recent transactions area, choose Select. A tick box appears beside each transaction.
2

Choose the transactions

Tick each transaction you want to remove. The toolbar shows how many you have selected.
3

Delete and confirm

Choose Delete, then confirm. EveryWealth permanently removes the selected transactions and refreshes affected daily values. This cannot be undone.
When filtering by listed status, select both listed and unlisted investments to include both groups. Clearing both choices shows an empty selection. Chart details show zero values where available. If you do not see the Select option, ask an owner or an administrator to grant you the bulk delete permission from your member page in Organisation Settings.

Personalise your view

Use the view switcher in the Dashboard header to choose the layout that suits the task:
  • Classic for the standard dashboard experience.
  • Bold for a larger visual review with customisable modules.
  • Compact for a denser power-user view with more holdings, transactions, allocation figures, watchlist items, goals, and news visible at once.
Classic and Bold views start with the Period ROI snapshot, then show realised P/L and realised FX alongside the open-position metrics, so you can distinguish return, income, repayments, unrealised movements, and gains or losses on closed positions. The snapshot shows current value for context, rather than the return basis used behind the ROI calculation. In the Bold view, Period ROI is also included in the Pulse strip for quick scanning. In the Bold view, the Pulse strip stays directly below the chart because choosing a Pulse item changes the chart above it. The Period ROI tile includes a small ROI trend for the selected period, with the ending figure matching the Period ROI snapshot. The other Bold modules can still be shown, hidden, moved, or resized below the strip. Bold and Compact also show Total return, Annualised YTD, IRR, XIRR, TWR, Gross income and FX impact alongside Period ROI and Cost basis. These figures follow the dashboard date range and portfolio filters, including the selected entity’s ownership share. They are calculated for the combined portfolio, rather than averaging the individual investments’ percentages.
  • Total return combines realised gains or losses, unrealised movement and gross income for the period. Fees and currency conversions on cash accounts also count; when there are any, the card shows the amount.
  • Annualised YTD uses 1 January through the dashboard end date in that year, even if your selected review range starts later. It multiplies YTD ROI by 12 and divides by elapsed calendar months, prorating a partial month. This is simple extrapolation, not a forecast.
  • IRR treats successive cash-flow entries as equally spaced and shows a return per period. Same-day movements are combined and the closing holding value is included in the last entry. Actual gaps between dates are ignored; the result is not automatically monthly or annualised.
  • XIRR uses the actual cash-flow dates and shows an annualised money-weighted return.
  • TWR shows the time-weighted return over the selected period, adjusting for contributions and withdrawals.
  • Gross income shows income before recorded tax deductions. It can differ from cash received.
  • FX impact combines the period’s unrealised currency movement with realised currency gains or losses. It is already included in total return.
In Bold and Compact, the Realised P/L, Unrealised P/L, Unrealised FX and Realised FX metrics use the same period figures as these returns, so they add up: realised P/L, unrealised P/L and gross income, plus any cash account fees and conversions shown under Total return, equal Total return, and unrealised FX plus realised FX equals FX impact. Unrealised P/L and Unrealised FX show the movement over the selected period, not the lifetime gain on current holdings. For the gain since purchase, use the figure under Cost basis, or select Unrealised P/L in Bold to chart it. In Bold, the percentage beside each of these metrics is its share of the return basis, so the shares add up to Period ROI. Select the information button beside any of these metrics, Period ROI or Cost basis to open Calculation details. The window shows the dates, method, figures used, steps and assumptions. IRR also shows the ordered cash-flow amounts; use Previous and Next for longer sequences. Opening values for timing-based returns use the balance before the selected start date so first-day cash movements are included. Close the window with Close or Escape. Opening a calculation does not change the chart. A dash means the recorded history does not support the calculation. Timing-based returns are unavailable where required valuation coverage is incomplete. In Compact, Customise dashboard lets you show or hide each metric. Previously saved default metric selections gain the new cards automatically; customised selections are retained. These additions apply to Bold and Compact only. Use the information icon beside Period ROI to see the formula and figures used: ROI equals return divided by return basis. When cash or Xero-linked bank accounts are included, the return basis counts the shared cash balance once. This keeps the dashboard from overstating the capital base when interest and balances are held in separate cash records. In the Compact view, the headline metrics and trend charts run across the full page first, followed by the detailed portfolio and activity panels. Period ROI and Allocation radar appear near the end of the default layout. The Period ROI module shows return, income, capital adjustments, and the main contributors for the selected range. Large amounts are shortened without unnecessary trailing zeros, such as $730K** or **$729.5K, so the same figure stays easy to read when the page first loads. Use the small chart toggles to switch between value, gain or loss, FX, and cost trends without leaving the dashboard. Hover over a chart, or move keyboard focus to it, to see the latest value, starting value, change, and range. The Compact Period move percentage compares the closing portfolio value with the recorded opening balance for the selected period. This keeps the movement meaningful even when the first chart point falls after the opening date. When Xero bank accounts are linked and syncing, the Compact view also shows a bank balances panel with total cash and the latest synced account balances. Bold and Compact views include a Capital commitments module. Total capital commitments shows the remaining organisation-wide exposure in the reporting currency, including target balances that do not yet have payment dates. Scheduled shows the portion represented by open calendar tranches, while Without dates highlights draft calls that still need timing. Select Calendar to review or update the full schedule. The Allocation after commitments module compares the organisation’s current category weights with a projected portfolio that includes every remaining commitment, including target balances that have not been scheduled yet. The radar and the list of largest changes show which categories are expected to grow or reduce as a share of the portfolio. A commitment linked to an uncategorised investment appears under Uncategorised. If a commitment is not linked to an investment, the module includes it in the projected total and clearly identifies the amount that cannot yet be plotted against a category. In the Compact view, use Customise dashboard to choose which modules are shown, drag them into your preferred order, resize them, and adjust each module’s settings. Generated insights use the same dashboard grid, so they can sit between standard modules and be moved, resized, shown, or hidden in the same way. For example, you can choose which headline metrics appear, which transaction columns are shown, and how many rows a module displays. Drag from a module’s handle; the module lifts from the page and the surrounding modules move aside to show where it will land. You can scroll while dragging, and press Escape to cancel a move. Your Compact dashboard choices are saved for your user and follow you across devices.

Create your own Compact dashboard insights

In the Compact view, choose Customise dashboard to reveal Ask your dashboard when you need a focused chart, table, or summary that is not already covered by the standard modules. EveryWealth chooses the format that best fits your question: charts for visual patterns, tables for detailed rows and exact values, and summaries for a short answer with key figures. Saved insights remain visible after you finish customising. New and refreshed insights use the same review period and active filters shown on the Dashboard. This keeps generated figures, trends, transactions, and live market comparisons aligned with the view you are reviewing.
1

Start an insight

Choose Customise dashboard, then choose Create insight or select one of the suggested starting points for allocation, a holdings table, performance, or recent changes.
2

Describe what you need

Explain the period, comparison, rows, chart, or figures that matter to your review. A clear request such as “Show my top holdings in a table with current value and percentage change” gives the best result. You can also choose a starting point for a common allocation, holdings, performance, or recent-changes review.
3

Review and refine

The creation window keeps your question and the Live preview together so you can check the result as you work. Generate the first preview. After that, Auto-update preview refreshes the result when you pause typing, so you can refine the wording without repeatedly choosing an update button. You can turn this off and use Update now instead.
4

Save to the dashboard

Choose Add to compact dashboard. The saved insight joins the Compact dashboard grid and follows you across devices. While customising, drag or resize it just like any other module. Use the pencil button to refine an insight later, or the delete button to remove it.
Interactive charts include controls for switching between suitable chart styles, such as line, area, or bar. Choose Data to see the figures behind a chart, then select a column heading to sort the rows. Generated table insights can also be sorted by any column, so you can quickly move between alphabetical, date, value, and percentage views. Chart axes adapt to the information being shown. Dates run from oldest to newest, large financial values use compact axis labels such as $15.9M, and the tooltip keeps the exact value. Category bar charts place category names beside horizontal bars so longer labels remain clear. The Data view uses clear Date or Category headings and keeps numeric columns aligned. Generated summaries use the same compact metric tiles as the rest of the Compact dashboard. Each tile shows a short label, a clear value, and supporting period or comparison detail when it is useful. If an insight refers to a market index or listed investment and EveryWealth is not certain which ticker to use, confirm the correct result before the preview is prepared. Search the stock catalogue by company name or ticker, then check the exchange and currency before confirming. Where a country can be identified from the suggested ticker, matching results appear first. Use Customise dashboard to enter edit mode. In edit mode, the Dashboard shows a light grid so you can arrange the page directly. The first time you customise a dashboard, EveryWealth guides you through the main choices:
  • Show or hide modules for the review you are preparing.
  • Drag modules on the page into the order you prefer. You can also select a drag handle and then choose another module as the destination.
  • Pull the right edge of a module to resize it on the grid.
  • Choose whether each module is compact, standard, wide, or full width.
Some detailed modules cannot be made too narrow. This keeps tables, charts, and account lists readable. Charts resize with their modules, so portfolio value, allocation, exposure, holdings, and watchlist views stay readable while you adjust the dashboard. Use Modules while editing to open the module list. Use Done when the view is ready. Common personal views include:
  • A portfolio review view with key metrics, top holdings, allocation, and currency exposure.
  • An operations view with recent transactions, recent news, recent planning threads, and planning goals.
  • A research view with starred watchlist items and favourite reports.
  • A performance review view with benchmarks, value comparison, key metrics, and period ROI.
Dashboard preferences are saved for the organisation, so the same view is ready the next time you return. The Dashboard follows your display preference, including dark mode, and keeps cards on a consistent background so the view is easier to scan.

Compare with benchmarks

Use the Benchmarks module to compare portfolio value growth with the targets your organisation has saved. Benchmarks can include market indexes, listed stocks, CPI plus a margin, or a fixed annual percentage. Owners and admins manage the saved benchmark list from Planning > Benchmarks. Benchmarks marked for the dashboard appear in the Benchmarks module. The benchmark comparison starts from the portfolio value at the beginning of the selected dashboard period. It then shows what that starting value would have grown to if it followed each benchmark. This keeps the comparison simple and easy to discuss in review meetings. If a benchmark cannot be calculated for the selected period, the dashboard keeps the portfolio information visible and marks that benchmark as unavailable.

Good practice

1

Start with the date range

Confirm the review period before discussing performance or recent activity.
2

Use filters for focused reviews

Apply entity, category, or tag filters before preparing a view for a specific audience.
3

Check recent news

Review high-importance or action-required updates before meetings.
4

Keep the dashboard tidy

Hide sections you do not use regularly so important information is easier to scan.

Cash accounts

Cash balances are included in portfolio value, whether recorded manually or connected through a bank feed, Xero or MYOB. Moving money into an investment changes where it is held; it does not itself create a return. Cash interest is counted once, while fees and conversion costs reduce the cash return and ROI. The same cash treatment applies to both dashboard layouts.
