Overview
News brings investment updates into one review page. Use it to see what happened, which holdings are affected, whether action is needed, and which documents support the update. Before you start
Make sure you are reviewing the right organisation. For action items, check the source document before relying on a summary or reminder date.Basic and advanced use
- Basic use: review updates, action flags, expected dates, and supporting documents.
- Advanced use: triage critical items, add calendar reminders, review investment-level context, and clean up stale items.
What you can see
News opens with the triage queue on the left and the selected news item beside it. Select AI chat, beside Ignore, to open the News assistant in a third column on wider screens. Each column scrolls separately, so you can keep the article and discussion in view together. It shows:- Triage tabs — Needs action, Upcoming, Done, and All — with item counts.
- Due pills on each item: overdue, due soon, a due date, or FYI for informational items.
- Unread markers for items you have not opened yet.
- A Received date on every item in the queue and in its details, shown as day/month/year.
- Expected dates and action-by dates.
- Linked investments and source material.
- Summaries, impact notes, suggested actions, and supporting documents.
Review news
- Open News from the main menu.
- Start on the Needs action tab and use the due labels to spot overdue and upcoming work.
- Search by holding, topic, action, or impact. You can also type filters such as
importance:highorevent:dividend. - Select an item to review it in the detail panel. Opening a new item marks it as reviewed.
- Read the summary, impact analysis, and suggested action.
- Open the linked investment or source if you need more context.
- When the work is done, select Mark actioned. If the item does not need a response, select Ignore instead. Both move the item to the Done tab; use Reopen if you need to bring it back.
- Use Add to workspace to start a Planning Workspace discussion from the news item. The composer opens prefilled with the linked investment and the news title.
Sort by received date
On the News webpage, use Sort below the search box:- Received: newest first puts the most recently received records at the top.
- Received: oldest first puts the earliest received records at the top.
- Default order returns to the usual News order.
Understand the labels
- Importance shows how much attention the item may need.
- Event type describes the kind of update, such as AGM, distribution, capital call, valuation, or market update.
- Corporate action and distribution items can include scheduled stock splits and dividends. These show the expected date and the linked investment.
- Action required means someone should review, decide, respond, vote, monitor, or update records.
- Status tracks each item through New, Reviewed, and then Actioned or Ignored. New items show an unread dot in the queue.
- Received is when the news item was recorded in EveryWealth. It is separate from the expected event date and action deadline, and does not change when you review or update the item. It may differ from the date on the original email or document.
- Expected date is when the event is expected to happen.
- Action by is the date a response or decision is due.
- Confirmed shows whether the update has been confirmed.
Use supporting documents
Some news items include documents. Open a document to preview it in the side panel, or use Open or Download when you need to review it separately. PDFs open in the panel with page scrolling, zoom controls, and Fit to width. If the preview cannot load, choose Retry preview or open or download the original file. Use supporting documents to verify:- Announcement details.
- Distribution or dividend timing.
- Voting or response requirements.
- Valuation or portfolio impact.
- Source material for client or committee notes.
Ask questions and fix a news item
Select a news item, then select AI chat beside Ignore. The assistant stays hidden until you open it. On wider screens it appears in the right-hand column; on smaller screens it fills the detail view. Select Close AI chat or, on smaller screens, News item to return to the article. Reopen AI chat to continue with your draft and discussion. Selecting a different news item keeps its chat hidden until you open it. Select a suggested question or write your own message. Suggestions fill the message box for you to review before sending. The discussion uses the selected news, its linked documents, and the investment’s recorded holdings and ownership to help explain what the update means for you. For example, ask “How much do we need to pay?” or “What does the attached notice say about the deadline?” The message box stays at the bottom of the discussion. Select Send or press Enter to send; use Shift + Enter for a new line. Answers appear as they are written. You can scroll back through earlier messages while a reply continues, then select Latest message to return to it. When the assistant reads a supporting document, it links to the source so you can check it. If a document cannot be read or a figure is missing, the assistant will explain the gap or ask for more information. Use the same chat to explain an error and ask for a correction. For example:We only owed $120,000, not $600,000. Please fix the amount and explanation.Asking a question leaves the news unchanged. When you request a clear correction, the assistant applies it in the same chat. The Expected impact amount and affected wording update on the page as soon as the correction is saved, without refreshing. Negative amounts show an expected outflow; positive amounts show an expected inflow. News item updated confirms the save. If the request is unclear, the assistant asks for clarification first. Corrections apply to the news item. They do not change source documents, investment balances or transactions. If you supply a correction that differs from a document, the assistant identifies it as your correction. Your discussion is saved for that news item and is available when you return. Corrections are visible to other members of your organisation. If someone else updates the item while you are chatting, review the latest version before requesting the correction again. Use Stop to stop a reply or Retry reply after an interruption. Corrections already saved are kept, even if a reply stops.
Calendar reminders
When a news item has a useful reminder date, you may see Calendar in the item actions. Use it to add a reminder for:- Action deadlines.
- AGMs.
- Capital calls.
- Corporate actions.
- Distributions.
- Governance or regulatory events.
- Valuation events.
Delete a news item
Use Delete when a news item is no longer needed. Deleting the news item removes it from the News page, but linked documents are kept.News on an investment
Individual investment pages can also show recent external headlines and market context for that holding. Use those headlines for background research, then rely on the News page for tracked updates, action items, documents, and reminders.Good habits
