Overview

Search sits in the header on every page. Use it to jump straight to a holding, check a recent transaction, look up a listed company, or ask the assistant a question — all without leaving the page you are on.

Before you start

Make sure you are in the right organisation. Search only covers the organisation shown in the header.
  • Select Search or ask in the header, or
  • Press ⌘K on a Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows.
Press ⌘K or Esc again to close it.

Search your organisation

  1. Open search and start typing. Results appear once you have typed at least two characters.
  2. Review the grouped results:
    • Investments — name, code or ticker, owning entity, latest value, and the change since the previous valuation.
    • Transactions — the five most recent matches, with date, type, and reporting amount.
    • Market data — listed companies and funds matching your search, with the latest price and daily movement.
  3. Select a result:
    • An investment or transaction opens the relevant investment page.
    • A market data result opens the company’s public market page in a new tab.

Ask about this page or get help

When search opens, Ask about this page offers suggested questions for the page you are viewing. Go to provides shortcuts to All investments, Reconciliations and Standard reports.
  1. Choose a suggestion, or type your own question, such as How do I change the reporting currency?
  2. Select Ask “your question”, or press Enter while it is highlighted. The answer appears in the search window.
  3. Type in Ask a follow-up to continue the conversation.
Answers appear progressively as the assistant writes, so you can start reading straight away. Reviewing your question… means it is preparing the response; Writing your answer… means more text is arriving. Wait for the answer to finish before sending a follow-up. The With this page line identifies the page where you started. The assistant uses this to understand your question, but it does not automatically see your active filters or the figures on screen. Include the date range, filters or figure you need help with when these matter. For questions about using Everywealth or resolving an issue, the assistant looks up the help guides and links to the relevant instructions. If it cannot find guidance, it will ask for more detail.

Choose where to chat

  • Ask in sidebar opens a floating panel on the right, so you can keep working. Use ⌘Enter on Mac or Ctrl+Enter on Windows while typing a question.
  • Ask in full chat starts a full conversation. Use Shift+⌘Enter on Mac or Shift+Ctrl+Enter on Windows.
  • From an answer, Open in sidebar keeps the current conversation, including an answer that is still arriving.
  • Full chat opens the saved conversation once the answer has finished.
  • Search returns to your search results. Closing the window or returning to search ends the current answer.
Use the arrow keys to select a search result and Enter to open it. If your text reads as a question, search results are set aside; select Search instead to look for matching records.

Minimise or dock the sidebar

  • Select Minimise chat (the minus button) to tuck the panel into an Ask everywealth button in the bottom-right corner. Your conversation and any unfinished follow-up stay in place, and an answer already in progress continues.
  • Select the floating Ask everywealth button to restore the panel in its previous position.
  • On larger screens, select Dock chat to fix the panel to the right edge. The page narrows to sit beside the chat, keeping both visible. Select Float chat to let the panel sit over the page again.
  • Minimising or closing a docked panel gives the page its full width back. On smaller screens, the chat uses a floating panel so the page is not squeezed into a narrow column.
Where response checking is available, answers in search are checked before they appear. EveryWealth does not provide financial or investing advice. An answer that could be interpreted as advice may show this reminder in small italic text beneath it. An answer identified as likely advice is rewritten and checked again before it is shown. If the check cannot finish, select Retry. The reminder stays with the saved answer when you choose Continue in chat.

Tips

  • Search matches investment names, short codes, tickers, and entity names.
  • Type a transaction type such as dividend, buy, or return of capital to find recent transactions of that type.
  • Ask is available for any search term, not only questions — useful when the results are close but not quite what you need.
  • Results stay on screen while you keep typing, so the list never flashes empty between keystrokes.
  • Market prices arrive a moment after the rest of the results and show as — until they land.

Troubleshooting

  • No matches found — check the spelling, try the short code or ticker, or search on the entity name instead.
  • Nothing happens on ⌘K — select into the page first, then try again. Some browser extensions claim the same shortcut.
  • Prices show as — — market data is briefly unavailable. The rest of your results are unaffected, and prices refresh when you search again.
  • The assistant could not answer that — select Retry. If it keeps failing, open the assistant from the main menu and ask there.
Stock searches require you to be signed in. If your session expires, sign in again before searching. If you make too many searches in a short time, wait briefly and try again.
